Key Advantages

Why Choose This Product

Designed for shop-floor, warehouse and retail environments, balancing print quality, system integration and long-term cost.

Better than wax|Scuffs less than wax Cost controlled|Between wax and enhanced Three speeds|4, 6 and 8 ips Adequate heat|Around 80 degrees C

Overview

The economy hybrid is the value option in the range: part wax, part resin, priced well below a full resin but noticeably tougher than wax. Total thickness is 6.6±0.3 micron, slightly thinner than the enhanced hybrid, with print density of 1.9-2.1 and support for 4, 6 and 8 ips.

What it fixes compared with wax

Wax print rubs off with a thumb. The hybrid build largely solves that. The resin content bonds the ink layer to the paper more firmly, so labels survive packing, handling and the friction of a busy warehouse without losing print. The manufacturer rates it for around 80 degrees C, which covers normal storage and transport.

That added scuff resistance is what the price premium over standard wax buys.

Substrates and jobs

Coated paper labels are the main use, with coated stock, uncoated paper and garment tags also in scope. Name plates, price tags, packaging labels and freight work all sit inside that envelope.

The manufacturer describes general compatibility as average, which is a fair warning: high-gloss paper and synthetic paper have denser surfaces and ink adhesion will fall off. For those, go straight to the enhanced hybrid, whose substrate list explicitly covers high-gloss, semi-gloss and synthetic stock.

Use and storage

Operate and store at -10 to 40 degrees C and 20 to 85 percent relative humidity. Keep resealed rolls out of light and moisture and check wind direction before loading; the economy hybrid ribbon is normally ink-out.

Position in the range

The economy hybrid sits at the bottom of the ladder, below the general purpose, enhanced and super duty grades. Tight budget, mostly coated paper, and a step up from wax in durability: this is the one. Mixed substrates including synthetic paper: go to the enhanced hybrid.
