Key Advantages

Why Choose This Product

Designed for shop-floor, warehouse and retail environments, balancing print quality, system integration and long-term cost.

Halogen free|No halogen flame retardants No dusting|Thick layer leaves head clean Quiet running|Lower noise than standard Solvent resistant|Withstands alcohol wiping

Overview

This is a halogen free resin ribbon with a grey ink layer. At 7.2±0.3 micron it is the thickest ribbon in this range, runs at 4 and 6 ips, and covers colour coated paper, uncoated paper, high-gloss and semi-gloss label stock, synthetic paper, films and tags.

What a grey ink layer is for

Most ribbons are black; this one is grey. On light substrates, grey gives softer contrast while staying legible, which suits internal management labels, secondary text over anti-counterfeit patterns, and specification notes on light packaging.

It also works for two pass printing: lay down grey as a base and overprint black for the main information to create depth. Some brand labels are produced that way.

What halogen free means

Halogen free means no halogenated flame retardants in the formulation. Electronics and products exported to the EU are checked for halogen content, and labelling consumables fall inside that scope. It sits in the halogen free resin category for exactly those customers.

Print behaviour

The manufacturer lists excellent continuous print quality, no powder shedding, low noise, solvent resistance and scuff resistance. No shedding matters for a thick ribbon in particular: a 7.2 micron ink layer with weak adhesion will deposit on the printhead and guide rollers over a long run, producing white spots and broken lines. The ink is formulated to avoid that.

Heat and friction resistance are strong, alcohol wiping resistance is strong, and low temperature printing works well, which helps on unheated shop floors in winter.

Typical jobs

Name plates, price tags, garment tags, packaging labels, train tickets, freight and logistics. Tickets carry clear requirements for ink anchorage and friction resistance, and the 7.2 micron ink layer fits that.

Use and storage

Operate and store at -10 to 40 degrees C and 20 to 85 percent relative humidity. Keep unused rolls sealed, dry and out of light. Do not alternate grey and black ribbons on the same machine without cleaning the printhead between them, or residual ink will affect grey consistency.

FAQ

Can grey and black mix?|Do not alternate on one printer; clean the head when changing. Is there a test report?|Available on request; scope confirmed per order. Why use grey?|Softer contrast on light stock where black is too harsh. Print speed?|4 and 6 ips; the thick layer does not suit higher speeds.
