Overview

PE is polyethylene film, and its defining trait is softness. Stiff paper or PET on a small bottle, a squeeze tube or a cable tends to lift as the material springs back; PE deforms with the curve, sits flat and does not crack when squeezed. That makes it the stock for cosmetic tubes, household bottles and cable bundles.

Six standard sizes

2500 labels per roll at 40x30mm, 1000 at 60x40mm and 80x50mm, 600 at 80x60mm, 500 at 100x80mm, 325 at 100x150mm. 40mm core, 2mm gap, no perforation.

Low surface energy needs the right adhesive

Like PET, PE is a low-energy surface and ordinary adhesive lifts at the edges. Specify high tack, wipe oil and mould release agent off the substrate, and press firmly. Tubes and bottles often carry release agent straight from moulding, and no label will hold until it is removed.

PE versus PET

Curves, flexible packaging and anything that gets squeezed call for PE. Heat, solvents and a rigid nameplate call for PET. Both need resin or a high-grade mixed-base ribbon, since wax does not grip film surfaces.

FAQ

PE or PET?|PE for curves, flexible packs and anything squeezed; PET for heat, solvents and rigid nameplates. Why does it lift at the edges?|Low surface energy plus leftover mould release agent on the bottle. Wipe with alcohol, then press firmly. Can I use a wax ribbon?|Not advised. Start with mixed-base, move to resin if the print must resist scratching. What is the minimum order?|The six standard sizes ship by the roll. Custom sizes are quoted against die plate cost and quantity.
